My Response to Daniel's review

Daniel from “Money Makers Reviewed” wrote a long review about my trading learning program. I am glad my program is getting noticed among the Betfair trader community and the review mostly praised my program as being the “real deal”. Meanwhile, he raised some points that I disagree with. So I thought I would respond to some arguments outlined in Daniel's review.

Is pre-race trading better than In-Play?

Overall Daniel’s review is a good read for beginner traders interested in joining my trading learning program. However, Daniel is subtly making an argument that pre-race trading is better than inplay.

I have tried pre-race trading in the past, and I even spent one whole summer learning it. I was in one pre-race trading learning group and I even had a mentor. In the end, I did not have much success with it and I thought that prices were actually moving faster than with inplay. Pre-race trading has no bet placing delays, and you are competing with some super fast automation bots.

Meanwhile, the first 2/3rds of the inplay race the price action is actually very smooth and not faster than in pre-race, unless the horse falls or stops running. When it comes to the last part of the race, I have to agree with Daniel, that it is very fast-paced. However, in my course, I discourage beginners from trading at the end stages of the race.

Inplay trading is dangerous and it's not hard to blow up your whole bank laying high odds in the end stages, if you don’t know what you are doing. But that’s why I use the max loss limit. Furthermore, I am making +1k days with a £300 bank. So the win/loss ratio is amazing for inplay. Meanwhile, it is normal for pre-race traders to make +£300 with a £1k bank. So if you blow that up, you don’t have money for the next day.

Is in-play less popular than pre-race?

Daniel is saying that in-play trading is very niche, and works only for a very small minority of people. Well, that's not true. There are many ways to trade inplay, and I am trading the most popular way. No form analysis, just looking at prices and horses. There are many students from my program and many old trading buddies that are profitable trading very similar to me, although everyone has their own style and focus on specific strategies.

Funny how pre race traders don’t know many profitable inplay traders, meanwhile I don't know many profitable pre race traders.

But overall I wouldn't say in-play is better than pre-race. It all comes down to what works for you.

Financials trading experience a huge edge for racing trading?

Daniel is highlighting my financial background as an edge for my in-play trading. However, I was an in-play trader first, then I tried financial trading, while realising that in-play is actually better than other types of trading.

After becoming successful with in-play, I thought that financial markets would be the place for me to progress. I used my profits and tried stock trading and futures trading, and to be frank, I did not have much success with it. Hence, I am back to Betfair racing trading only at the moment, where I am truly successful.

Is it bad that I don't do refunds?

Author says that it's bad that I don't have a refund policy. In general, educational products don’t give refunds in the trading industry, since the strategies and edges we share are somewhat of a secret, and we don’t want people to learn them, and then ask for a refund.

Do you need 8 years of experience to be successful in-play trading like me?

Daniel makes an argument, that I am successful because I have 8 years of experience in trading and you may only become successful after gaining that experience.

Author also talks about how much money you can lose before becoming profitable.

I would like to disagree. You don’t have to lose much at all. You have to start on a simulator, and once you are profitable you move to trading with 3gbp stakes. And you only need a bank of 30-50. I am trading using +/-30gbp stakes with a bank for 350 in summer and 250 in winter. Yes, the simulator is a bit easier than real markets, but not by much.

You don’t need 8 years of experience to get to my level. While I’ve been trading for over 8 years, for the first 4 years I was just doing simple scalping strategies. The strategies I use now and teach in my program are the ones I’ve been doing for the last 4 years only.

That’s when the markets changed and video feed got much better, so I switched from trading just the price action to now looking at both equally - the video and price ladders. And also implemented many other strategies that were impossible to do 4 years ago. This was the first summer I traded the way I trade now:
